Where Are You? - put you and your tablemates' location here!

The Big List of Hacks - what are you working on? Put it here!

Ask technical questions for your hack - need an answer? have an answer?

In an effort to cut off the massive flow of "I'm attending, want to make a team" traffic that I've already contributed to - and because there seems to be no other official discussion routes! - I've set up this strictly unofficial wiki for Hack Day. Please be bold in updating, and tell folks about it; although hopefully something more official will come along eventually! -- Tom Scott I've set up an unofficial forum now too -- Peter Cooper. Skype Public Chat channel. IRC? - Yes: chat.freenode.net #hackdaylondon -- John Billings

Got questions or answers? Check the FAQ on the right sidebar! Questions without answers right now: Food and drink? - Parking facilities / price ?

Forming Teams, Alliances, Guilds or Loose Associations of People

Nothing concrete, nothing required, but if you want to arrive at Hack Day knowing there's people nearby that you can collaborate with, or ask about that tricky problem, put your name down here. If teams start discussing with each other, spin off a separate page.

Can anyone think of a better way of organising this? We have people listed by specialty (sometimes in multiple sections), with freetext about interests. Is there any more efficient way of doing it? Alphabetical Attendees list (the new 'back network' does this for us now..)

  • Perhaps we can have a section where we list ideas of things we want to work on with links to new pages where people can brainstorm the ideas and list themselves. I'll list stuff (Tom Morris)

  • I'm quite interested in having a small brainstorming group (not necessarily an actual team - though that might come out of it) so we can all fill up with brain candy and then possibly make teams or compete, etc.. better than going in without inspiration and also means some of us would at least know each other :) (Peter Cooper)

Ideas

Spin off a page if your idea needs space.

  • Mashups between anything, and AMEE - our new Carbon/CO2 data API blog - mail gavin starks (gavin -at- dgen.net) for key
  • An API to get train times in a usable way (Tom Morris) | Portable to mobile phone (web/j2me?) (Andy Millar)
  • A funky mashup of all attendees photos, blogs, Twitters, etc - great way to meet everyone! (Peter Cooper) seeAlso Enhanced-Presence and Skype meets Twittervision.
  • Perhaps related, I am thinking of doing a Plazes/Yahoo/BBC hack. (LanceW)
  • Interactive Fiction/storytelling using available APIs or creating new ones. (Kate Bolin)
  • If anyone's interested in building Flash mashups, hit me up. I'm going to be doing Flash mobile and web mashups with Twitter and/or Flickr with a new data exchange format for flash called SWX. Basically, it's like JSON for Flash (only think, pre-evalled JSON!) - Aral Balkan (my first name at my full name dot com) blog :)
  • I'm interested in contacting the person above who mentions flash mashups but not their name or contact - email me! - I have an idea involving Twitter API and flash.

  • Olivier ze kat: I aware to share my stuff used to create some screensavers around Yahoo! universe... I build my own platform (VB6 source code) which display any Flash movie. See "Goodies" files on Y!MPlus SourceForge project. Interested to enhance my "Jump Jump Liam" screensaver to display last mail we received (require BBAuth & Mail API).
  • Olivier ze kat: I plan build "My Yahoo! Reader" which re-use my LifeLine experiment (to mark items as read, and tags engine). This tool could display news from feeds we setup into My Yahoo!, adding Yahoo! & BBC headline news, and (perhaps) last recents mail we received.
  • Olivier ze kat: build an API which give (as RSS feed or JSON) our last blast from Yahoo! 360, or status from Messenger... I don't understand why this API is not officialy exists !
  • Chris Adams: I'm interested in working out what a wifi cloud 'should sound like' to walkthrough. Specifically, finding a way to announce the presence of wifi networks musically, by converting their SSID's into melodies that could play on a wifi enabled mobile device like. Anyone else interested in what their wifi network's theme song is?
  • MyBlogLog team: Hey everyone! Sorry we couldn't make it to London but we wanted y'all to know that we just pushed out our APIs for this weekend's fun. api.mybloglog.com is visible from within the hackday network for you. If you have any questions, feel free to send an email to the developer, Chris Goffinet email, or product manager, Ian Kennedy email
  • Jim Purbrick: Second Life Mashups (a general purpose XML to CSV service which allowed memory constrained (16K!) Second Life scripts to access arbitrary APIs would be very handy) Win an island in Second Life for a month!
